I have to fess up: I take a lot of pictures of myself for this blog, but usually only post the good ones (except when I let you see my bad hair on purpose!) So, some of you who don’t know me in real life, may think I’m a bit more…uh…less frumpy than I really am.
Years of telecommuting and working from home have allowed me to get sloppy and lazy in the everyday image department. I can dress up when needed, and will for a client meeting or a night out, but in general, I work in my pj’s, which often double as running clothes, and hey, I can even grocery shop in them, too. This purple dress from Costco, for instance, is also an excellent winter nightgown!
So, now that I’m jumping back into real work again, I figured it’s time for a little de-frumpinization. I mean seriously, look at this hair:
And would it kill me to wear a little makeup once in a while? No. No it wouldn’t. Don’t get me started on the lack of leg shaving, either. You don’t want pictures of that, trust me.
I finally called Debra and Amber over at Salon Neveah (yes, they are sponsoring this post!) and admitted it was past time for a @juliejulie hair intervention. Debra did an amazing job with my hair last time, when I was down to my ears in gray, when you loyal readers VOTED to Get the Gray Out! and I even posted a YouTube video of me at the salon getting my hair done.
“Oh,” she said when she saw me, “it is time again, isn’t it?”
“Yep,” I said. “My dignity is in your hands. My readers need you to fix this.”
And so she did. After pictures and a charming “Frumpy Julie” video coming tomorrow. You’re welcome.
