Bet you can't eat just one!

Bet you can’t eat just one!

I sure do love that Nicolas Megalis kid, the 24 year old musician and Vine sensation. I just bought his new single “Gummy Money” and put it on my running play list. It’s a hoot. And it encouraged me to buy some Gummy worms to make my own Vine after a recent 4 mile run, just for fun. And then I ate the entire bag. And then I felt kind of sick. Because I need to learn portion control, and moderation apparently. Here’s what happened:

But back to Nicholas: he and his 3.5 million Vine followers just pushed his new “Gummy Money” single up into the top ten list on iTunes. This changes the game for unsigned artists. The people have spoken, or “liked” what they want to see and hear, as it were. We choose who we want, on our own now. The Gummy Money Song is really fun. It started off as a fun little six second riff on Vine, here:

We all loved it so much (over 90,000 shares on Facebook alone!) that he made a full length song out of it. You can buy it on iTunes here: Gummy Money on iTunes. I think it’d be fun to start a Chubby Mommy Running Club playlist, so please send me your suggestions!

Now back to the gummys. Or is that gummies?

This is one serving. Stop here!

This is one serving. Stop here!

I have a feeling that Nicholas doesn’t know how many runners use Gummy Bears for “fuel” during long runs and marathons, but many of us do. In fact, Beth Brewster, an ultra ironman marathoner I follow, found that Gummy Bears were were the only thing she could keep down on the last leg of her race, which consisted of a 6.2 mile (10 K) open ocean swim, a 261.4 mile (421 K) cross-country bike ride, and a 52.4 mile (84K) run. So her team encouraged her to eat as many as possible. That woman is crazy inspiring and likely doesn’t have to worry about portion control or moderation.

Good news: I just opened another bag of gummies so I could take this picture. Yum!

Bad news: the bag is open. And half gone already. Dang it. Time to run again, I guess.

Good news: I got some mad tunes to listen to as I chug up the hills. Thanks Nicholas!
